Atom access and OpenRouter usage are billed separately. Here’s what matters before you start.

Trial

Every new account gets 10 free chats. When the counter in the top bar hits zero, tap Upgrade to unlock unlimited chats.

You’ll still need your own OpenRouter account with funds to cover AI processing costs. Atom isn’t affiliated with OpenRouter; we use their infrastructure so you only pay for what you use instead of a monthly subscription. This approach saves most users money.

Atom Licence

  • One-time purchase: Pay once and own your licence forever. No recurring fees, no expiration.
  • Updates: Your purchase includes one year of updates. Any version released during that year is yours to keep permanently, even after the year ends.
  • After one year: You can continue using your current version indefinitely, or pay an upgrade fee at any point to receive another year of updates. This model incentivizes us to ship improvements rapidly and keep Atom evolving at the fastest possible pace.
  • Seats: Licences are per user and seat-limited. Free a seat before moving computers via Settings → Account → Deactivate device.

OpenRouter Usage

  • Atom sends each automation through your OpenRouter account. Keep credits or spending headroom available or requests will fail.
  • Control costs with OpenRouter’s spending limits, model choices, and the usage dashboard at openrouter.ai/activity.
  • Atom is highly token-efficient. Most requests land under a cent, and even complex runs typically stay in the five-to-ten-cent range.

FAQs

Can I use the trial indefinitely?

No. Once your trial chats run out you need the paid licence to keep using Atom.

Do I need both Atom and OpenRouter payments?

Yes. Atom’s licence removes chat limits. OpenRouter credits cover the AI work that each chat consumes.

Can I share an Atom account?

Licences are per user. Each teammate needs their own Atom account, licence, and OpenRouter key.

What happens if I run out of OpenRouter credits?

Atom will show an error and stop running automations until you add more credits or raise your OpenRouter limit.
